Sweet Like Lemons takes the viewer on an emotional journey about leaving a harmful relationship behind. The title is a play on the saying “when life gives you lemons make lemonade”, only in this case there is no lemonade to be made but the lemons still taste sweeter than what you had before. Rather than traditional narrative, the movie uses surreal and symbolic (both figurative and through color) language to visualize the complex emotions the protagonist goes through.

A Finnish animator and artist, Jokela graduated with an MA in Animation from the Royal College of Art, London. Barbeque (2017) won multiple awards, including the Cristal for Best Graduation Film at Annecy.
